🚨 META CLAIMED IT HAS “CAUGHT UP” WITH OPENAI AND ANTHROPIC. DO THE NUMBERS BACK IT UP?

On October 12, Meta launched Muse Wonder, its most capable AI model yet. Zuckerberg says Meta is now on par with the top rivals.

But a closer look at the scorecard tells a different story:
- Wins 7 of 14 benchmarks, but some were built by Meta itself
- On the independent leaderboard, Claude Opus 5.5 still ranks higher (58 vs. 56)
- API pricing matches Claude Opus 5.5, while the top tier costs up to $200/month
- Meta keeps moving away from open source, and Zuckerberg rejects calls to slow down AI development
