Coinbase for Agents now lets AI agents trade US stocks and ETFs while using x402 micropayments to access data, analytics and AI models. The update expands the platform beyond crypto and derivatives into regulated equities.
Agents can access thousands of US stocks and ETFs with 24/5 trading, fractional shares from $1 and zero commission. They can also spend a few cents through x402 to pull earnings data, onchain analytics or model analysis before executing a trade.
The same Coinbase balance can now cover both trading and data payments, without separate subscriptions or API keys. Users can set asset access, spending limits and per-action approvals while the agent handles research, payments and execution.
x402 has processed 230M+ transactions and $54M+ in volume, with Coinbase facilitating more than half of all transactions.
The launch pushes Coinbase further toward agentic finance, where AI agents can independently research markets, pay for information and execute trades across multiple asset classes within user-defined limits.
