xAI has launched Grok 4.7, its most capable model for coding and knowledge work, pitched as twice as fast at half the price of comparable frontier models.
Grok 4.7 is priced at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens through the xAI API, undercutting most Western frontier models. xAI says it is built on a larger base model, trained with longer reinforcement learning, and tuned to better verify its own output.
The model is live across Cursor, the xAI API and third-party coding harnesses, model routers and cloud platforms, and is rolling out in GitHub Copilot for Pro, Pro+, Max, Business and Enterprise subscribers.
The release leans hard on price as xAI's main lever against OpenAI and Anthropic, betting that cheaper, faster inference can win developer workflows even where raw benchmark scores still trail the top frontier models.
