🤔 Bitget came out with the official number! $351M stolen officially!

According to Gracy Chen's statement, around $351.6 million was affected. The exchange says hot and warm wallets were hit, cold ones aren't affected. Withdrawals are closed, deposits and trading work

Keys weren't stolen, they hacked the internal wallet backend, substituted fake transfer data and ran it through a regular signature. After that the money went out. Additional withdrawals from the platform, per them, are stopped. On stream and after it Gracy said a link to the North Korean group is very likely: some IPs and the VPN pattern matched a known cluster. This is the exchange's assessment, not a closed investigation. They promise a full report within a day

The exchange promises to cover user balances from the protection fund. It holds over $464 million, about 5,500 BTC. They promise withdrawals back within a few hours to a few days

A similar meeting got a ton of attention last year. On October 10, Trump announced aggressive tariffs targeting Chinese rare-earth metals, and just a month later he went in to negotiate tariffs and subsidies with some serious leverage in his hand

This time, the official agenda is extending tariff agreements and securing mineral supplies from China to the US. AI will also be on the table especially its military applications

But IMO, the real elephant in the room will be the Iran war

Trump can use it as leverage because China is one of Iran’s key partners. China creates massive energy demand, relies heavily on shipping lanes and ports, and expensive oil is a headache for global manufacturing as a whole with China sitting right at the center of it

No idea how Trump and Xi are going to play their cards here.

I wouldn’t expect anything crazy from the meeting itself, but the real impact could start showing up over the next few weeks

Last year, just one week after their meeting, Bitcoin resumed its downtrend from $110K all the way to $80K.

Fits the “bear market continuation” thesis pretty damn well, doesn’t it? 👀
