Ethereum researchers propose to CUT validator rewards to ZERO if half of all ETH becomes staked.

The proposal EIP-8363 would gradually reduce newly created ETH rewards, reaching zero if staking rises from around 34% today to 50% of total supply.

Critics warn the move could force out solo stakers, giving larger operators even more control.
