Magic is very common in Astarta. The Core distributes the mana all evenly throughout the entire island. There's almost no difference between mana in Forgio and on the other side of Astarta. Some people are born with certain magic spells and they can also learn new magic spells if they want to. For example, Ioshi was born with fire magic that he got from his dad. Sia was born with healing magic from her mom. Nathan was born with telekinesis, but Sakura didn't have any magic spells, she taught herself weapon creation later on in life. Magic is being taught in schools, universities, there are thousands of books, films, documentaries, essays. People are free to learn any type of magic they want to. Of course, there is banned magic. It’s a pretty big chunk of spells that are interfering with human lives or deaths. The examples of these spells could be: withering, getting into peoples’ memories, controlling others etc. Spells that also drain your lifespan, or drain your mana completely are strictly forbidden.
How does magic work?
Magic is in a person's blood, and this person can control it however they want. But, if you’re in a life or death situation, your magic can overflow, leaving you completely drained of mana. If a person has no mana, they are most likely dead. Which is why kids learn in kindergarten about magic and how to properly use it. Mana regenerates when the person's asleep or resting. However, it is very slow, so you will still feel like shit when you wake up if your mana is super low.
