Today's Fact: PowerPoint was originally developed for the Apple Macintosh, not Windows. It was created by a software company called Forethought and first released in 1987 for the Macintosh. The first version was designed mainly to create presentation slides.

Later in 1987, Microsoft bought Forethought and acquired PowerPoint. Microsoft then developed a Windows version, which was released in 1990 as part of the early Microsoft Office suite.

So, although PowerPoint is now widely associated with Microsoft Windows, its first-ever version was made for Apple’s Macintosh computers.
