We discussed common mistakes in gambling arbitrage and how to avoid them with Sergey, the author of the ohmyclick channel. Sergey has also worked in other verticals, and these tips can be useful across various niches.
1️⃣ Testing the same offer repeatedly if it doesn't deliver results.
It is like doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different outcome. If an offer isn’t converting, don’t waste time on endless attempts. Switch geos and offers, add more offers, as 2–3 offers may work in one geo. Experiment with creatives, styles, and the overall concept of the creative. Use different storytelling approaches.
2️⃣ Testing only one offer for a single geo.
One offer is not enough! For a comprehensive test, you need 3–4 different offers with different products per geo to ensure rotation. For example, if offer A isn’t converting in a promising geo but you know this geo works well, it’s a good idea to try offers B and C. Test them and observe the results. Most likely, you’ll see that offer C starts delivering a good conversion rate from registration to deposit (assuming the geo is indeed promising).
3️⃣ Slow testing.
Speed matters! The faster you onboard offers, the sooner you can test them and determine whether a particular offer works in a given geo. Your team should include a technical specialist and a business developer. This allows for quick testing of new hypotheses: the business developer helps secure the best conditions in the market in the shortest time, and the technical specialist ensures offers are quickly set up in the tracker.
4️⃣ Spending too much time on creatives.
Take creatives from spy tools, tweak them to make them unique, and launch your tests. Monitor key metrics: click cost, install cost, registration cost, and deposit cost. Only testing will give you a clear understanding of which products and geos work best.
