Latvia said a group of at least 20 migrants was deliberately pushed toward its border from Belarus on October 5–6 by armed, masked individuals who threatened Latvian troops.

The military called the incident an unusually aggressive provocation and part of a broader hybrid campaign using migration to pressure Latvia, NATO and the EU.
