The U.S. Justice Department is conducting a preliminary review of claims that Watergate prosecutors mistreated Richard Nixon and his associates.

Former Nixon aide Geoff Shepard presented allegations that prosecutors secretly met with judges and withheld evidence from defendants.

DOJ stressed that hearing his presentation does not constitute a formal investigation.
