Qatari-mediated talks between the U.S. and Iran made little progress, with both sides refusing to compromise and fears of renewed fighting rising.

Qatar proposed a deal linking Iran’s demand to lift the U.S. naval blockade with U.S. demands for nuclear concessions. But Iran said it would only consider nuclear steps if Washington returned to the June memorandum of understanding.

U.S. officials initially described the talks as positive and said Trump was open to sanctions relief and releasing frozen funds for nuclear concessions. Hours later, Trump said he had offered Iran nothing.

A source told Axios the talks were “stuck,” while Trump said Tuesday that Iran “will give up” and “will not have a nuclear weapon.”
