The U.S. drafted but never released a statement condemning UK, France and Canada over plans to restrict imports from Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

The September 8 draft, reportedly pushed by an aide to U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee, accused the countries’ actions of contributing to antisemitism and compared them to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement.

The statement was not backed by senior White House or State Department officials. Secretary of State Marco Rubio later avoided directly criticizing the measures, saying only that the U.S. would not follow the UK’s decision.
