Trump’s decision to move U.S. bombers from RAF Fairford over terror threats has raised UK concerns that Iran and Russia could be encouraged to use criminal proxies to disrupt Western military operations.

British officials say threats have increased during the Iran war, but the base remains highly secure and the risk of a successful attack is low.

Limited U.S.-UK communication over the withdrawal also caused confusion, with former RAF commander Greg Bagwell calling its handling “very damaging” to perceptions of UK base security.
