■■□□□ A company called Toka says it can find cameras in an area, take control of them, and rewrite what they recorded, live and after the fact, with no forensic trace. That comes from their own internal documents and pitch deck, which Haaretz got hold of. It’s sold to governments only, and Australia shows up in those documents as one of the countries they were talking to. Their biggest backer, Andreessen Horowitz, is also Flock’s biggest investor. Nobody has shown Toka has touched a Flock camera. But if footage can be rewritten, what does CCTV evidence prove? Most cameras are one default password or one missing update away from being someone else’s camera, so check yours. This is part of my series on the surveillance companies you’ve never heard of. Follow so you don’t miss the next one. Sources: Haaretz (Dec 2022), TechSpot (Aug 2026)
