🇩🇪 Within the AfD, there are dreams of annexing the Sudetenland, part of Italy, and Alsace-Lorraine.
Members of the Alternative for Germany (AfD), the German far-right party, are increasingly sending "irredentist signals" toward regions that once belonged to the German-speaking world but are now located in other European countries.
In 2018, the AfD group in the Bundestag questioned the government about the work of the "cultural advisor for West Prussia, Posen, Central Poland, Volhynia and Galicia", in a series of questions where it called for institutional funding for associations of expellees.
In November 2019, Stephan Protschka, AfD member of the Bundestag, helped finance a memorial in Bytom paying "tribute to the German soldiers who fell during the First and Second World Wars, to the fighters of the self-defense forces and the Freikorps, and to the oppressed and murdered East Germans."
In 2024, Alice Weidel stated that she had always refused to use the Polish name, Głubczyce, of Leobschütz, the hometown of her father's family, in the current Opole Voivodeship.
