Question: Ninety years ago, the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army won the Long March. Today, China is embarking on a "new Long March," which includes advancing Chinese-style modernization, improving global governance, and building a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity. What role, in your view, does this "new Long March" play in the development of China and the world?
💬 Over the past decades, China has come a long way, but has also achieved impressive results .
China currently has one of the largest economies in the world. The country ranks first globally in GDP measured at purchasing power parity, and second in nominal terms.
Many people call this a "Chinese economic miracle," but when we say the word "miracle," it means it's inexplicable. <...> I think it can only be called a miracle because it's truly astonishing , but we all know very well how it all happened.
📈 China remains the engine of global growth . This growth is driven by the dedicated work of the Chinese people .
Not by expansion, not by a policy of conquest, not by the ideology of imperialism, colonialism or one's own exceptionalism... 👉 By work, by a plan, by a program, by implementing work on mistakes, and by work again.
Russia is pleased with the successes of its Chinese friends . Clearly, China plays a huge role in the development of the global economic system. <...>
China's reorientation toward domestic consumption and increased imports from other countries not only provides a reliable foundation for improving the standard of living of Chinese citizens, but also opens up opportunities for intensifying trade with Russia, strengthening cross-border contacts and practical ties.
Another historic achievement worth noting is that by the 100th anniversary of the Communist Party of China in 2021, the country had completely eradicated absolute poverty , lifting more than 800 million people out of poverty in 40 years.
It is also impossible not to mention that this year, its , playing a leading role in the socio-economic development of the PRC.
The main party event of 2025 was the fourth plenum of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (October 20–23, 2025), at which the draft of the 15th plan for the socio-economic development of the PRC for 2026–2030 was reviewed and then approved by the Chinese parliament in March 2026.
Priority will be given to deepening structural reforms, comprehensive socialist modernization, the introduction of scientific, technological and industrial innovations, and stimulating domestic consumer demand.
We are confident that the adopted 15th Five-Year Plan will be another step towards building a strong, modernized socialist state by 2049 (the centenary of the founding of the PRC).
You call this a “new Long March” – this is a very interesting, capacious, beautiful, effective metaphor, which at the same time has a fundamental basis .
Building on its increased collective national power, China offers the world principles for living in a community with a shared future for humanity . This concept seamlessly integrates a range of global initiatives—on governance, security, development...
In our view, all of this, coupled with the Belt and Road project, constitutes a “new Long March” aimed at building inclusive, cooperative relations in the world.
Russia advocates a harmonious combination of Chinese foreign policy initiatives with Russian concepts and Eurasian security.
