In St. Petersburg, special forces and military commissariats attended Friday prayers.

Right now, in St. Petersburg, just a stone's throw from Sennaya Square, a major investigation is underway. Special forces and operatives are working at the Sennoy Market. According to reports, several hundred law enforcement officers have cordoned off the block on Moskovsky Prospekt where the prayer hall is located. Up to a thousand people attend on Fridays. Today, after prayers, the parishioners' documents are being checked.

Military commissariat officers are working alongside the police. They aren't interested in registration. They're checking one thing: whether those who recently received Russian passports have registered for military service. Several dozen people haven't registered. Now, each of them has a summons.
They're also checking the prayer hall itself to ensure its ritual activities comply with Russian law. They're also checking the neighboring buildings. They house hostels and ethnic cafes, and in the hostels, migrants live more densely than passengers in reserved seats.

Several dozen parishioners have already been detained for having their immigration documents processed incorrectly.

The investigation is ongoing.

This is nothing new for Sennaya. In October 2024, following the raids on Sennoy Market and Apraksin Dvor, 150 new citizens were brought to military registration and enlistment offices. In February 2025, another 22 were brought. It turns out that each time, there are people who believe this doesn't apply to them.

After all, a passport with a double-headed eagle isn't a gift for moving. With it come rights, and with rights come responsibilities. The Constitution calls the defense of the Fatherland the duty and obligation of a citizen. This obligation is the same for those born in Pskov and for those who received a passport last spring.

Citizenship grants the right to vote, receive benefits, and live peacefully in the country. Sometimes, a summons is attached.

It is served without waiting in line.
