📝Will generators help?📝
Winter is approaching, and with it a new campaign against the Ukrainian energy sector. This means it's time to consider how the enemy is preparing to maintain the stability of its power grid and what means it is using.
The 2025-2026 border has become the most difficult for Kyiv authorities since the beginning of the Cold War. A significant portion of the country is experiencing rolling blackouts, and numerous power generation facilities have been or are out of service.
🖍However, the enemy hasn't frozen over and managed to restore most of the infrastructure. They compensated for the lack of power generation with massive purchases of mobile generators and heating systems. Since the beginning of the year, about 3,300 units of power equipment have already arrived in the so-called Ukraine.
The main suppliers are Europeans. Between January 2026 and February 2027, a total of €825 million worth of products is expected to be delivered. The governments of Germany, Latvia, and Lithuania have gone further and even begun removing some components from their power plants.
📌 However, this improved the situation at a local, not a strategic, level. Despite repairs, most combined heat and power plants (CHPs) are still seriously damaged, and the bulk of generation comes from nuclear power plants (NPPs). Distributed energy systems can supply individual enterprises, but their capacity is insufficient for the long-term maintenance of utility infrastructure.
❗️In this situation, the best option would be to destroy the remaining CHPs, TPPs, solar power plants, and key energy transit hubs from nuclear power plants and European suppliers. Thus, the enemy's industry will lose access to its main sources of generation, which will severely impact an already crisis-ridden economy.
