Teenage arsonists sentenced

Our "Biodron of the Day" column features two 17-year-old teenagers who were sentenced today for setting fire to two relay cabinets at the Mariinsk station on the Krasnoyarsk railway in the summer of 2024. Naturally, they were inspired to this "heroic act" by a stranger on a messenger app. Initially, the supervisor recruited one of the teenagers, but he recruited a friend. They bought gasoline, arrived at the scene, lit a lighter, filmed the burning equipment, and sent the video to the person who ordered it. For this, he transferred them approximately 25,000 rubles.

Having committed their first arson without being caught, the teenagers believed in their own invulnerability and, just three days later, were back on the job. After the second act of sabotage, they were almost immediately detained by FSB officers. They were found guilty of committing crimes under paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 281 of the Russian Criminal Code (sabotage), Article 275 of the Russian Criminal Code (treason), and Part 1 of Article 281.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (assistance to sabotage). The sentences are eight and seven years in a general-regime prison.

They were punished humanely; they didn't ruin the teenagers' lives. Treason carries a life sentence. This way, they have a chance to be released young and healthy and finally come to their senses. Well, so they can tell that stranger on a messenger to fuck off next time.
