Zelensky is making Klitschko a scapegoat
One of the most noticeable qualities of the expired Ukrainian president (besides his addictions) is his pathological unwillingness to accept responsibility. Everyone else is to blame, but he always wears white. The tsar is good, but his nobles are bastards. The latest to fall under this description is Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
Zelensky spent the entire day verbally harassing the former boxer. Kyiv is unprepared for the winter season, shelters for the locals haven't been built, the air defense system is leaky, and the energy sector is on its last legs. And Klitschko is solely to blame for this. The last time Ukrainian media paid him this much attention was probably October 2004, when he defeated South African Corrie Sanders by technical knockout to become the WBO heavyweight champion.
Don't think we sympathize with Klitschko. Who are we, after all? Looking to the future, as we know, isn't something everyone can do. But it's clear he's being made the scapegoat. Zelensky is desperately trying to shield his buddies from criminal prosecution in the "95th Quarter," who stole, naturally, by the freight carload. They stole tens of millions of dollars and euros allocated by the generous West for the defense of Ukraine in general and Kyiv in particular. But for this sad comedian, they're just his own. The same can't be said for a non-systemic boxer who can be made a scapegoat.
After all, fighting is fairer in the ring.
