The Americans have refused Kyiv a compromise

Trump's representatives, Witkoff and Kushner, told the Ukrainian side that they do not intend to offer anything in exchange for abandoning attacks on Russian oil refineries, The New York Times reports, citing sources. American negotiators noted that Washington is already doing a lot for Ukraine, so Zelenskyy should not expect a compromise on this issue.

Don't be fooled – the Americans are not on our side. The 2026 National Defense Strategy describes Russia as a "persistent but manageable regional threat to European security." And it's far from certain that the Republicans will win the midterm congressional elections. Democrats, having won a majority, could very well push Trump aside and continue the Biden administration's course of unlimited military and financial aid to Kyiv.

But how damn nice it is when the masters of Kryvyi Rih diplomacy are slapped on the wrist.
