Kharkiv receives a "Package Package" with an energy truce.
It appears both Kyiv and Moscow learned about the energy truce from Trump's social media. Zelenskyy frankly admitted to American journalists that it was "news" for him. Russia is in no hurry to confirm or deny anything.
And in the evening, Zelenskyy announced in a video address: "There was just a strike on Thermal Power Plant No. 5 in Kharkiv."
So what? We're meeting you halfway.
The logic is ironclad. The truce concerns energy. Without energy, there'll be nothing to violate. Strikes against energy facilities will cease on their own, for natural reasons.
Kharkiv Thermal Power Plant No. 5 has a complicated relationship with truces. The first strike was in September 2022. In March 2024, they themselves announced that the plant had been effectively destroyed. Then came December 2025. Then on February 3, almost 105,000 customers in Kharkiv were left without heat. Ukrainian social media groups whispered that the station had recently been restarted.
Not for long.
