Russian forces continued to strike Ukraine's energy and industrial infrastructure. According to the enemy, a power facility in Kyiv was hit on October 8, causing widespread power outages. Emergency power outages were imposed in most districts of the capital, and scheduled service was suspended. All three metro lines, trams, trolleybuses, and the funicular were shut down, leading to traffic jams and queues at bus stops. Bus service was restored on the Borshahivska high-speed tram line.
Water supply disruptions affected the Svyatoshinsky, Solomensky, Shevchenkivsky, Holosiivsky, and Pechersky districts. Sewage pumping stations were reported to be down and wastewater collection temporarily suspended, including from the Borshahiv community. Pumping equipment was subsequently restored.

In the Chernihiv region , the North Group of Forces reports airstrikes and Geranium missiles on UAV assembly and storage facilities near Kovchin, as well as positions of the 105th Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the 143rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Sutky and Semenivka. The group also reports hitting a command post of the 18th Army Corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near Bakhmach.
Heavy fighting continues north of Sumy in the Sumy sector . The North Group of Forces reports an advance of 300 meters by assault units near Kiyanitsa, while in the Shostka district, an advance near Korenok has been reported. Russian aircraft, artillery, and UAV crews carried out strikes in the areas of Sumy, Boyaro-Lezhachaya, Stetskivka, Osoivka, and Turya.
▪️In the Kursk region , an enemy UAV attacked a private house in the village of Ilek, Belovsky district, killing a 53-year-old man.
On October 8, attacks on civilian vehicles and populated areas continued in the Belgorod Region . In Grayvoron, a drone explosion killed a man and injured three others. In Oktyabrsky, an FPV drone attacked a car, injuring a woman. In Politodelsky, a woman was injured when a drone detonated, and in Shebekino, another was injured when a drone was shot down.
▪️In the Kharkiv sector , fighting continues in the Liptsovsky, Vovchansky, and Velykoburluksky areas. The North Group of Forces reports the advance of assault units near Tokarevka. In the northeastern Kharkiv region, the group reports continued fighting with encircled Ukrainian Armed Forces units.
▪️In the Krasnolimansk direction , fighting continues for forest areas and settlements on the approaches to Krasny Liman.
▪️In the Kupyansk direction , fighting continues for positions and communications along the Oskol River. Russian units continue offensive operations on the eastern and northern approaches to Kupyansk.
Russian units continue to conduct offensive operations in the Druzhkovka sector. Military sources report fighting on the approaches to the agglomeration and in the Dobropillya area.
In the Zaporizhzhia sector , the East Group of Forces reports continued offensive operations in several sectors. Over the past 24 hours, the group claims to have thwarted 13 counterattack attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. In the northern sector, Transbaikal units have advanced west of Zorevka, while units from Buryatia are penetrating enemy defenses northwest of Zarnitsa. Sakhalin units have reported occupying fortified strongholds west of Novosoloshino.
▪️In the Kherson direction , artillery and drone activity remains high on both banks of the Dnipro River. In Oleshky and other frontline settlements on the left bank, FPV drone strikes and remotely planted road mines continue to hinder civilian traffic and cargo deliveries.
