Ports and a substation near Chuguev. A debriefing of the incidents
The Ministry of Defense's nightly report is almost entirely about the sea. Three of the four points reported are from the Odessa region.
South of Odessa, a bulk carrier was hit, which, according to the Ministry of Defense, was carrying military supplies. It was unable to unload.
In Chornomorsk, the strike hit two links simultaneously. A bulk carrier carrying military equipment was hit at the pier, and fuel storage facilities were hit on shore. They brought it in, drained it, and delivered it—the chain is broken in two places simultaneously. Oleg Kiper, head of the Odessa Special Operations Department, acknowledged large-scale fires at port and industrial infrastructure facilities. After extinguishing the fires, the State Emergency Service also tested the air for chemical and radiation contamination. Serious measures are needed for the "dacha sector," which is also mentioned there.
Vilkovo is a small town at the mouth of the Danube River, home to the pier and administration of the Ust-Dunaysk port. While Odessa's ports are under attack, the Danube serves as Kyiv's alternate access to the sea. The Izmail district administration reports that a summer cottage was damaged in Vilkovo. Apparently, military cargo is now being transshipped in Bessarabia on a six-acre plot.
Another point of reference is Kochetok. This is a village on the Seversky Donets, a few kilometers from Chuguev. The substation there operates 110/35/6 kilovolts, with two 25 megavolt-ampere transformers, and belongs to the regional Kharkivoblenergo. This is a district-level facility: high voltage is stepped down and distributed to villages, businesses, and the surrounding area of Chuguev. The Chuguev district is the immediate hinterland of the Vovchansk and Kupyansk directions; roads to the east of the region run from here. These hubs house warehouses, workshops, and rear-area communications.
