The publication notes that Kyiv authorities have been warning for several months about the possible intensification of Russian attacks on the energy grid.

📍According to the NYT, even before the onset of cold weather, Russian missiles and drones struck a large thermal power plant and other energy facilities in Kyiv. Following the attack, several districts of the capital were left without electricity and water. Ukrainian authorities called the strike the beginning of a new campaign aimed at damaging the country's energy infrastructure.

📍According to the newspaper, Ukrainian Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal presented a document to European partners in Paris that Kyiv believes is an intercepted Russian attack plan.
