🇷🇴Calendar Ortodox – 16 octombrie

Astăzi, Biserica Ortodoxă îl pomenește pe Sfântul Mucenic Longhin Sutașul, cel care a mărturisit dumnezeirea Mântuitorului Iisus Hristos la Răstignirea Sa.

🌸 Sfântul Mucenic Longhin Sutașul a fost ofițer roman, însărcinat cu paza Crucii și a Sfântului Mormânt. Văzând minunile petrecute la moartea Domnului, a mărturisit: „Cu adevărat Acesta a fost Fiul lui Dumnezeu” (Matei 27, 54). După Înviere, a refuzat să ascundă adevărul, a primit Sfântul Botez și a propovăduit Evanghelia în Capadocia, aducând pe mulți la credință. Pentru mărturisirea sa neclintită, a primit moarte mucenicească prin decapitare.

Today the Holy Church commemorates the Holy Martyr Longinus the Centurion, who witnessed the Crucifixion and Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ and remained steadfast in his faith until martyrdom.

🌸 Saint Longinus the Centurion was a Roman officer entrusted with guarding the Cross at the Crucifixion and the Holy Sepulchre. Witnessing the miraculous signs at Christ’s death, he proclaimed: “Truly this was the Son of God” (Matthew 27:54). After the Resurrection, he refused to conceal the truth, received Holy Baptism, and traveled to Cappadocia with two fellow soldiers, where they preached the Gospel and brought many to Christ. For their unwavering faith, they were beheaded and received the crown of martyrdom.
