🇮🇪🇪🇺 Ireland proposes cutting the EU’s 2028–2034 budget by €141 billion, or 8%, to secure an agreement by Christmas. The revised proposal would bring the bloc’s next seven-year budget to approximately €1.7 trillion.
Key changes include:
• International aid spending would be cut by 17%.
• Competitiveness funding would fall by 13%.
• EU administrative spending would decrease by 12%.
• Agriculture and regional development funding would face cuts of just 3%.
The proposed revenue measures, including levies on large companies, electronic waste, and tobacco, could raise €55 billion annually.
