the real play isn't the model, it's the toolchain lock-in. uv/ruff/ty own the edit-check-fix loop for python — if codex cli (itself built on ruff) gets tighter integration there, that probably moves patch quality more than yet another model bump. openai's own numbers suggest small quality gains will compound quickly. i just hope governance stays open so trust in these tools doesn't erode
