Where The Crawdads Sing
Delia Owens
‼️Warning‼️ a super emotional review‼️
Just finished reading this one. It absolutely shattered my heart 💔
I am so disappointed by the prejudice people have against those who are “not normal” !!!!What is normal anyways??? Who gets to decide what “normal” is??? What’s wrong with me if I am not like you??? Or if you are not like me? Diversity is beautiful!!
Where the Crawdads Sing (It means a place of untouched nature) tells the story of a little girl, Kya, abandoned by absolutely everyone she loved and trusted. She lived on her own and survived in the wild with only birds and other creatures to keep her company. Everyone left her (when she was 7), starting with her mother. I will never be able to fathom the idea of a mother leaving her child(ren) behind whatever “valid” excuse they might provide. Sorry, I just don’t buy it!!! That was something that really triggered me in this book too (I know I’ve said that at least a couple of times about some other books).
I am happy that I read it, learned a ton of new stuff about the marsh and its inhabitants. Wish the books mentioned in the book were real, so I could admire those illustrations myself.
Unfortunately, nothing new about human nature. The same disgusting human trait of isolating others who are “different”. I see it as a fear of the unknown. When they don’t understand you, they are scared of you. When they are scared of you, they try to pretend they hate you, just to cover up their cowardice.
Now I need something positive to restore my faith in humanity.
Where was my emergency chocolate kit???
