overall alright game massively wasted potential if this had more than like a year to get rushed out it could have been a genuine banger </3 the ideas were there the plot was well structured and intriguing (until the end unfortunately it turned a little cringe and also i somehow got the anarch ending despite being pro camarilla and saying i dont want to stay in this city but oh well) but the sidequests are repetitive (even if they do drip feed you interesting lore) and this is the least open open world ive ever seen. theres almost nothing to do other than jump around rooftops and run around the same 3 streets one billion times for the god awful collectibles.
i could go into how the game does and doesn't follow wod/vtm lore but lets be real who tf knows the lore. ik a lot of people get mad that the gameplay doesn't exactly mirror the ttrpg but i'd argue that in this case it sort of makes sense? since we're playing as an elder and not our own character, the game is clearly set on telling a very linear story and the gameplay works for what it is. does disappoint me a little that the masquerade is only there in theory though and works more like a gta wanted system outside of the plot lmao
this game frustrates me so much because the themes and the ideas and the characters are SO GOOD but the everything else is so painfully mid!!!!! and people online really enjoy being mad so they completely ignore the positives and say the game is garbage and heavily shit on it and nitpick everything to make it look bad because its not a complete copy of the 2004 game (which was also deemed unplayable and ass on release btw until they released a bunch of patches and the unofficial patch mod). whomp whomp cry about it i think the core story is very fitting for a bloodlines sequel actually.
