Hello, blindGram v15.1 FINAL is released.
This version has been updated to Telegram version 12.10.1.
Recent changes:
-
Telegram 12.10.1 base: Rebased onto Telegram 12.10.1 (7038), bringing upstream performance enhancements, an ANR detector, updated reporting flows, and stability improvements.
-
Smaller APK download size: Dropped unused
x86 and
x86_64 emulator binaries from universal release builds, focusing on ARM architectures (`arm64-v8a` and `armeabi-v7a`) used by Android phones. This cuts the universal APK size from ~81 MB to ~61 MB (saving ~20 MB / ~25% download size) for faster downloads and reduced storage use.
-
Binary delta updates & per-ABI releases: Introduced binary delta update patches (`.patch`) enabling lightning-fast app updates with minimal data usage. Added support for per-ABI APK downloads and an in-app "Check for beta updates" button in the blindGram Updates dialog.
-
Granular message reading: Chat messages can now be read by character, word, or paragraph directly using standard screen reader reading granularity controls (local reading controls), navigating the text just like an editable field.
-
Screen reader long-press gesture: Your screen reader's native double-tap-and-hold (long-press) gesture now reliably opens the message context menu for both normal and service messages.
-
Separated voice playback slider: Playing a voice message no longer converts the message node itself into a slider. While audio is playing, an independent seek bar stop appears beside the message, speaking the position in words and adjustable via vertical swipe gestures.
-
Option to keep the keyboard closed: New "Don't open the keyboard automatically" option under General Settings. When enabled, replying, editing, quoting, or opening a chat no longer automatically forces the soft keyboard open, preventing unexpected screen jumps and focus loss for screen reader users. Tapping the input box or explicit keyboard controls continues to open it normally, while search fields, sheets, and dialogs remain unaffected.
-
Hide buttons in message composer & channels: New options in General Settings under Display and content to hide the Emoji, Silent/Notify, and Attachment buttons, as well as the 'AI Editor' and 'Rich Editor' buttons in the composer and caption edit box. Added an option to hide the bottom Mute / Unmute button in channels.
-
Chat folder numbering and reordering: Chat folders in the tab bar and selection sheets now speak their numbered position (index). Reordering folders is now accessible via screen reader actions (Move Up / Move Down) or the reorder handle popup, with spoken position announcements and optional vibration.
-
Continuous unread navigation at list bottom: At the end of a channel or forum topic, swiping/flicking forward advances directly to the next unread channel or topic and announces its title, avoiding bounce traps and announcing when all unread items are completed.
-
Multi-account background synchronization: Synchronized push notifications and message updates across all active accounts when the app is closed, ensuring messages across all accounts are updated immediately upon opening.
-
Media & playback improvements: Audio, voice, and video playback position memory now strictly follows your settings—retaining position across pausing, track switching, and closing when enabled, and resetting cleanly when disabled. The global audio player is displayed above channel live stream banners, so playback controls remain accessible. Star reactions in the reaction picker are explicitly labeled, and seek buttons are hidden during live stories.
-
Voice typing & forwarding fixes: Dictation no longer overwrites existing text in the message field. When forwarding media using Advanced Forward, captions are preserved. Forwarding to forum topics preserves destination topics and media albums.
-
Accessible buttons & stops: Fixed unlabeled button issues—the Update Reactions button and buttons with dynamic sub-text stay properly labeled after changes; search and settings buttons in community sheets are labeled; Recent Actions help button is labeled; empty chats are no longer an unlabeled full-screen focus trap; and in channels, the pinned message bar is read after the message list.
-
Screen reader download/upload chatter suppressed: Percentage announcements are spoken only for the currently focused item and suppressed during active audio playback to prevent audio interruptions.
-
Generic screen reader terminology: Standardized all strings, labels, and settings across all 12 supported languages to use the generic term "screen reader" (صفحهخوان) rather than referencing a specific screen reader, reflecting full optimization for Commentary Screen Reader (CSR), TalkBack, and others.
-
Incoming VoIP calls: Fixed an issue where the first incoming voice/video call after the app stayed in the background would be answered into a busy tone, or a missed call would cause subsequent calls to be rejected as busy.
-
Extensive crash & stability fixes: Fixed multiple crash classes and memory leaks, including OutOfMemory errors when loading messages from database cache, QuoteSpan and SuggestEmojiView index bounds crashes, settings restore memory issues with non-backup files, thread races in notification cache and spoiler rendering, Android 8 resume races, custom ROM window insets compatibility, and forum topic pagination hangs.
- Fixed reported bugs.
