❓ What's a "sideways market" (flat)?
It's when the market neither goes up nor down but moves back and forth in a narrow range. The price seems stuck between a ceiling and a floor. No trend, no movement — just noise.
📊 Fun fact: about 70% of the time, the market is in sideways. That means most of the time there's no clear trend. It's a normal market state.
❓ So why do bots sometimes lose?
Because our strategies are trend‑following. They are designed to catch strong moves. In sideways, when there's no move, they can't earn — they only lose a little on noise. That's not a bug, it's a feature.
🏎️ Metaphor of the day: a supercar in the city
Imagine a trend strategy is a race car. On the highway (strong trend), it flies at 250 mph and overtakes everyone. But when the road turns into narrow streets with traffic jams and stoplights (sideways), the supercar looks ridiculous: it can't accelerate, it jerks, and wastes fuel. It's not its element.
Same with our bots. In a sideways market, price moves back and forth; algorithms try to catch a move, but there is none. That's why we see small drawdowns.
