🤝 Hayes on Treasury Buybacks

In “Same Same But Different,” Arthur Hayes compares Scott Bessent’s policy with Janet Yellen’s in late 2023, when short-term Treasuries released about $2.4 trillion in liquidity, supporting Nasdaq and Bitcoin.

The US Treasury seeks to cap long-term Treasury yields through buybacks. After about $20 billion in extra purchases were announced on 19 August, the 10-year yield fell and Bitcoin rose.

Hayes says this may not be enough.

Coinbase launched tokenized US company shares on Base. Issued under B20, they are backed 1:1 by real shares held by regulated broker and custodian Alpaca.

Trading is available 24/7, with liquidity already on Aerodrome (AERO).

Users outside the US in supported jurisdictions can trade fractional shares, including Apple and NVIDIA, through non-custodial wallets. Coinbase plans to add more stocks in the coming weeks, followed by other RWA assets on Base.

🔥 Trump May Have Started Altseason

Trump's statements may have triggered the early phase of altseason, CryptoQuant analysts say.

From 19 to 22 August, altcoin market cap rose more than 24%, adding $215 billion. Total2, the crypto market's value excluding Bitcoin, moved back above $1 trillion. Mid- and small-cap coins led gains.

Now, 56% of altcoins trade above their 200-day moving average, up from 15-20%. CryptoQuant calls this a regime shift, but warns the market is overbought and may pause before continuing higher.
