“Kalashnikov" will present the Lotos SAO for the first time at the IDEX 2025 exhibition in the UAE

The Lotos SAO is a deep modification of the 2S9 Nona-S self-propelled tracked gun with a target engagement range of up to 13 km. However, unlike its predecessor, the Lotos has a different caterpillar base with a more powerful engine, as well as better accuracy and direct fire. The Lotos can be used as a howitzer or mortar, as well as to hit enemy fortifications and armored vehicles by direct fire.

In addition, the new weapon is equipped with automated guidance drives, providing increased speed and accuracy of gun guidance; mechanized ammunition stowage, facilitating and speeding up the work of the loader; has a higher level of armor protection for the crew and a number of other significant advantages over the Nona-SM.

Unlike its predecessors, the turret of the Lotos SAO is fully automated and remotely controlled. Two crew members are located in the front of the hull, and two more are in the combat compartment.

The “Lotos” SAO is equipped with a 120-mm smooth-bore howitzer-mortar gun, which is a further modification of the 2A51 gun installed on the “Nona-S” SAO. Additional armament of the SAO “Lotos” is a 7.62-mm Kalashnikov machine gun and a 902B “Tucha” smoke grenade launching system placed on a remote-controlled combat module.
