The evolution of the web in simple terms:
🔘 Web 1.0 (1991–2004) - "Read-Only"
The internet was like a static storefront. You could visit a site and read the info, but content was created only by companies.
🔘 Web 2.0 (2004 – Present) - "Read-Write"
The era of social media. We became creators, but in exchange, we gave our data to corporations. In Web 2.0, your data belongs to a "head office" that can change rules or restrict access at any time.
🔘 Web 3.0 (Present) - "Read-Write-Own"
A transition to an architecture without a central authority, where rules are dictated by code rather than corporate management.
What does this mean in practice?
🔘 Resilience: Information is distributed across network nodes. This eliminates a "single point of failure"—the protocol keeps running even if parts of the infrastructure go offline.
🔘 Control & Responsibility: In Web3, assets are stored in your wallet, not on an exchange's balance sheet. This provides independence but also requires responsibility: only the key holder has access to the funds.
