Facet engineering of MOF nanosheets yields ion-selective separators for lithium metal batteries. Gluconate anions adsorb on high-energy facets, suppressing vertical growth to form ultrathin Zn(bim)(OAc) nanosheets. Coated on polypropylene, they anchor anions and boost Li⁺ transference (0.73), suppressing dendrites over 1000 h and retaining 85% capacity after 500 cycles. This offers a general strategy for stable lithium metal batteries.
