Shaheed Sayyed Safieddine (ra) was inside the area at the time. Hezbollah did not confirm his martyrdom until 23 October, after weeks during which contact with him had been lost.

According to accounts surrounding the event, his honorable body remained beneath the rubble for eighteen days before it could be recovered.

Two years later, Shaheed Sayyed Safieddine (ra) is remembered not only as a prominent religious scholar, but also as an institution-builder and senior leader who remained engaged with his community until the final stage of his honorable life.
