Gokak fort
Gokak Fort, located near the Gokak Falls in Belagavi district of Karnataka, holds significant historical value and dates back to the Chalukya dynasty. This ancient fort, perched atop a hill overlooking the Ghataprabha River, was strategically built for military defense and surveillance. The fort is believed to have been an important administrative center during the reign of the Chalukyas and later witnessed the control of various other dynasties such as the Rashtrakutas, Bahamanis, and the Marathas. Its unique location near the river and natural waterfall made it both picturesque and militarily advantageous.
