4th of July - the date American citizens celebrate their independence from British monarchical power. And today, you're in for a treat, because I present to you...

The Ultimate American Revolutionary War Timeline! 🔥

Before the war, the USA consisted of the 13 original colonies, spanning the east coast of the North American continent.

❤️ 1756-1763 - The British Empire was entangled in the Seven Years' War with France. Thus, the British required the colonies to send provisions and tax money to wage the war. This infuriated the colonists greatly.
The Empire, ruled by George III, passed:
❕The Royal Proclamation (1763) prohibited the Americans from westward expansion
❕The Currency Act (1764) prevented the colonists from printing their own money.
❕The Stamp Act (1765) taxed legal papers and contracts.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 1765 - the delegates from 9 colonies met in New York City and passed resolutions saying that only individual colonies have the right to impose taxes.

❤️ March 5th, 1770 - the Boston Massacre - several British soldiers opened fire and killed 5 colonists, enraging the colony.

💚Dec 16th, 1773 - the Boston Tea Party - a group of colonists dressed as Native Americans protested against the tax levied on tea sold by the British by dumping 347 crates of tea into the Boston Harbour. The British responded with the Coercive ("Intolerable") Acts - a set of laws aimed at punishing the colonists for the damage.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Sept 5th, 1774 - the First Continental Congress - the delegates of 12 colonies (no Georgia) gathered in Philadelphia. This established greater unity between the territories. All members could be divided into three groups: royalists (those who supported the King), moderates (those who chose not to take sides in the arising conflict), and revolutionaries (those who believed that the monarchical rule was to be overturned in America).

❤️ April 19th, 1775 - Battles of Lexington and Concord marked the beginning of the war as an open conflict.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 May 10th, 1775 - the Second Continental Congress - a vote was held, during which more than half of the colonies wanted to start a war against the British. To this, King George III answered with the Olive Branch Petition - a peace resolution.

🤩 July 4th, 1776 - the Declaration of Independence was written and signed, proclaiming the sovereignty of the colonies and secession from the British Empire.

❤️ Sept 19th and October 7th, 1777 - the battles of Saratoga - were the turning point in the war, which also led the French to recognise the US and enter the war.

🤩 1778 - the Treaty of Alliance - France officially recognised the US as a country and became its ally.

❤️ 1781 - British forces surrendered in Yorktown, Virginia.

🤩 April 15th, 1783 - the Treaty of Paris was signed, ending the war between the US and Great Britain. John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and John Jay were the delegates from the winning side; David Hartley represented the losing side.

🤩 1787 - The American Constitution was created. This established the federal system of government in the United States, which the country functions under to this day. (Not а part of the war per se, but still a crucial moment in history of the USA.)
