Using reliable dictionaries in your English olympiad journey is vital.
This means that googling words or asking chat gpt to explain their meanings is unacceptable. This is why getting to know how to use online dictionaries in your studies is extremely important.
So what are the reliable dictionaries?
💙Oxford Learner's Dictionaries - the safest option. It is highly trusted and is English-learner friendly. Considered one of the largest English dictionaries in the world.
❤️Collins Dictionary - my personal favourite. Although it used to have a much prettier interface in my olympiad years, it is still in high regard. It also has a wonderful section with synonyms.
💜Cambridge Dictionary - amazing for studying idioms and the practical application of words, not just the definitions. Also one of the accredited, safe-to-use dictionaries for learning new words.
💀Avoid using Longman, MacMillan, Merriam-Webster, Free and, of course, Urban dictionaries, as the jurors might not accept the definitions from these sources
