there is a peculiar silence

the old clock continues to breathe,
its hands tracing circles through hours
that no longer belong to us.

somewhere beneath the pale aurora, past
Saturn's distant rings and forgotten stations,
yesterday waits inside an unopened letter.
tomorrow remains somewhere beyond the
horizon, unwritten, unnamed, while the
present stands quietly between them.
