Multi-Generation Households
The isolated nuclear family is a historical anomaly. For most of human existence, households included multiple generations living under one roof or in very close proximity.
The elderly weren't warehoused in age-segregated facilities but remained integrated in family life, passing wisdom and assisting with childcare.
Parents weren't crushed between caring for young children and aging parents without support. Children grew up with multiple adult role models and caretakers, not just busy parents.
IN our system today, the elderly lose purpose, parents lose support, and the young lose wisdom.
