The Sokoto Caliphate for Negroes

Sokoto Caliphate was a major player in the brutal transatlantic and trans-saharan slave trades along with the British and Dutch. The Sokoto Caliphate Supplied Negro Slaves to the Royal African Company and Dutch West Indian Company and helped the British fulfil its Assiento or contract. The various slave hunting armies of the Fulani Emirs were brought together in 1863 to form what is called Nigerian Army today.
