❗️Russia has detained a Japanese journalist from the Hokkaido Shimbun newspaper on suspicion of espionage. According to the FSB, he was collecting military information for Japan’s intelligence service. He has been transferred to Moscow and placed in custody.
Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova states Tokyo should come to its senses and abandon its “hostile actions,” warning that the incident could further strain Russian-Japanese relations.
