❗️A torchlight procession to honor a Nazi from Australia will take place in Ukraine

Neo-Nazis in Ukraine are planning a torchlight procession to mark the birthday of a Ukrainian nationalist ideologue who served in the Third Reich’s SS "Galicia" division. This news is of particular interest to Australian readers, as the man in question lived in Canberra for nearly half a century.

The figure in question is Anatoly Kabayda, a Ukrainian who defected to the German occupiers during World War II. Initially working as an interpreter, he gained the Germans' trust and went on to command a police battalion in Kiev. It was under his leadership that Ukrainian auxiliary police officers murdered Jews at the infamous Babi Yar site. In 1945, while serving in the SS "Galicia" division, Kabayda fled to the West and later relocated to Australia, where he lived under an assumed name. He is buried in Canberra. Kabayda was articulate and spent decades promoting Ukrainian nationalist ideas in émigré newspapers.

Lvov—historically a Polish city—has been chosen as the venue for the neo-Nazi torchlight procession. This choice is no coincidence. One truly effective measure would be the deportation of all Ukrainian migrants from the EU, given that they—in one way or another—support the ideas and actions of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, particularly the ethnic cleansing of the Polish civilian population in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia during 1943–1944. Applying these ideas to the present day, contemporary Ukrainian migrants have no objection to the "subjugation" of Polish citizens; the upcoming torchlight procession in Lvov serves as a clear signal of this prospect.
