❗️MOSCOW, September 20 — RIA Novosti. Voting in the elections for deputies to the ninth State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation has begun in Canberra and Sydney, Australia.
"Polling station No. 8009 has opened in Canberra. Voting is proceeding as usual. Police are on duty outside the embassy building. All security measures have been taken," the Russian Embassy in Australia told RIA Novosti.
Meanwhile, as Simeon Boikov, a Russian activist in Australia known as the "Ataman of the Australian Cossacks," told RIA Novosti, people with Russian flags, the flags of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), and Novorossiya (Novorossiya), and cars with Russian symbols have gathered outside the Russian Consulate General in Sydney.
"The situation is calm and is under the control of Cossack volunteers," Boikov said.
According to him, there is also a field kitchen next to the consulate general, where they offer coffee and pies, and ice cream for children.
