🇨🇳🇺🇸 China, US Publish Tariff Cut Lists

China’s Commerce Ministry on Sept. 28 published the product list for a reciprocal US$30 billion tariff reduction framework with the United States. China’s list covers US farm products, personal care goods, medical devices and coal, while the US list includes Chinese toys, home appliances, baby products, kitchen and bathroom goods, and holiday gifts.

The framework follows a May meeting in Beijing between the two heads of state, where both sides agreed to establish an intergovernmental trade council. In the eighth round of economic and trade talks held in New York and Washington on Sept. 20–23, the two sides reached consensus on the council’s operating rules, the “30 billion for 30 billion” tariff-cut framework, and product lists; more than 90% of covered goods will return to MFN tariff treatment if domestic legal procedures are completed.

Both sides will implement the cuts in parallel after completing internal procedures. They also agreed to set up an agriculture working group under the trade council, with a first meeting planned before the end of 2026.
