Can happiness actually be bad for you?
Happiness is supposed to be good for us, right? But apparently, it’s not always that simple.
Imagine finally getting something you’ve wanted for a long time — a promotion, a good result, recognition from others. You should feel happy. But instead, you feel uncomfortable or even stressed.
Why?
For people with low self-esteem, positive experiences can sometimes feel like they don’t belong to them. If you’re used to thinking “I’m not good enough,” success can actually challenge the way you see yourself.
And that inner conflict can affect how you feel — even when something objectively good is happening.
So maybe happiness itself isn’t the problem.
Sometimes, we just haven’t learned how to accept good things without feeling like we don’t deserve them.
Maybe feeling comfortable with happiness starts with changing the way we see ourselves. 🌱
