🗓September 21 marks the Day of Military Glory of Russia—the Day of Victory of the Russian Regiments, led by Grand Prince Dmitry Donskoy, over the Mongol-Tatar forces in the Battle of Kulikovo. It was established by the Russian Federal Law No. 32-FZ, "On Days of Military Glory and Commemorative Dates of Russia", signed on March 13, 1995.

On September 21, 1380 (September 8, O.S.), the Russian army under the command of Dmitry Ivanovich (later known as Donskoy) won a decisive victory over Mamai's Horde army on the Kulikovo Field. This triumph dealt a crushing blow to the power of the Golden Horde: the victory marked the beginning of Russia's liberation from the centuries-long yoke and became a crucial step toward the unification of Russian lands.
