The Armenian government and Iranian contractors have officially launched construction of a 7.2 km tunnel in Armenia’s southern Syunik Province.

The tunnel is being built as part of the Agarak–Kajaran highway project, financed through a loan from the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD).

Once completed, it will reduce travel time from the Iranian border to Kajaran to approximately 30 minutes.
